To spark young students’ interest in science Hugo Duarte Bernardino Amaro (DC4) teamed up with his former science teacher to organize an event for 12–14-year-olds. The event, titled “Fluids and Energy”, took place at the high school “Escola Básica Integrada da Boa Água” in Sesimbra, Setúbal, Portugal, on March 28th , 2025.
In collaboration with his former science teacher, Hugo created an interactive session to connect everyday science lessons with real research from the SCALE project, showing the impact of science on everyday life.
The activity was held three times, reaching around 340 students from grades 7 to 9.
Hugo made science both accessible and exciting, and the audience rewarded him with their enthusiasm and interesting questions — from what it’s like to be a researcher or learn a new language to why countries don’t rely solely on renewable energy.
All in all, an unforgettable experience — for the students and for Hugo as well!
